As the Technical Theater Coordinator, I had the opportunity to support and execute a live event hosted by Writers Bloc Presents featuring the current Governor of Kentucky, Andy Beshear. This production extended far beyond a traditional live interview or political discussion, as the event also incorporated live streaming and professional video recording, requiring close coordination between the venue and the broadcast production team.
Throughout the event, I worked closely with camera operators, audio engineers, lighting technicians, and production staff to ensure seamless integration between the live audience experience and the technical requirements for broadcast media. Particular attention was given to lighting and audio systems to maintain both visual consistency on camera and a high-quality in-person experience for attendees.
What made this event especially unique was the level of security coordination involved. As the venue representative and technical lead, I conducted pre-event walkthroughs and operational handoffs with the local security supervisor in Santa Monica to ensure smooth coordination with the Governor’s security detail and National Guard personnel. This required careful advance planning, venue logistics management, and clear communication across all departments to guarantee a safe and seamless production environment.
